Caleb Lapeyrouse on Music, Inspiration, and Dreams
Louisiana has no shortage of homegrown talent and Caleb Lapeyrouse is no exception. Growing up in a musical family, Caleb's love for music started at an early age and has only grown stronger through the years. I met and watched Caleb and his band perform at Hero Fest a festival that celebrates first responders a few weeks ago. They did an amazing job and I had to interview Caleb and get his story.

When did you first start singing? Was music always something you wanted to do?
I started singing as soon as I could talk. Growing up in a musical family, it was just the norm for us during the week. By the time I was 4, I had already picked up guitar-I actually dug my uncle's old guitar out of the closet and started playing on the three strings it had. I still have that guitar today. Music has always been something I loved. I idolized the people around me who were playing and knew early on that it was a dream
Who are the musicians you look up to or draw inspiration from?
I come from a long line of country music lovers, so I was raised on the greats-Alan Jackson, Travis Tritt, and so many more. At the same time, I've got a big blues and rock influence from players like Eric Clapton and John Mayor. I try to blend those inspirations into my band's sound. We're mostly country/rock, but we like to throw in some curveballs to keep people on their toes.

What has been your most unforgettable performance so far?
Hero Fest 2024, hands down. We had the honor of opening up for country icon Rodney Atkins. The Crowd was on fire, and in turn, so were we-it was an incredible experience I'll never forget.
If you could play anywhere, where would it be? What's your ultimate goal?
For me, it's always been the Grand Ole Opry. To stand in the same room where so many legends have played-that would be a dream come true.
From a little boy strumming three strings on his uncle's guitar to dreaming of stepping into the circle at the Grand Ole Opry, Caleb Lapeyrouse is carving out his path with heart, grit, and a sound rooted in Louisiana soul. Keep your eye on this rising artist-his story is just getting started.
