The Holiday Hangover Show 2026 hosted by 97.3 The Dawg was hands down one of the best live music experiences I’ve had, and it’s a perfect example of why acoustic shows in small venues are so special. There’s an intimacy that can’t be replicated in a large arena—every lyric feels more personal, every note more intentional, and every story more meaningful. From start to finish, this show was packed with talent, heart, and moments that reminded everyone in the room just how powerful live music can be.

One of the highlights of the night was seeing our local Acadiana artists shine. The local singers Slim and Jim, Austin Reaux, and Mike Broussard leaned heavily into classic country, which instantly set the tone and had the crowd fully locked in. Hearing timeless songs originally made famous by Keith Whitley, Sammy Kershaw, and Johnny Paycheck brought a wave of nostalgia through the room. Those classics never get old, especially when they’re performed with such respect and passion.

At the same time, the show did an incredible job of blending old with new. The audience also got to hear newly released singles from local artists Austin Reaux and Mike Broussard. Experiencing brand-new music in a setting like this—stripped down and acoustic—really allows you to focus on the lyrics and emotion behind the songs.

Another thing that made the night so enjoyable was the joking and playful back-and-forth between the local artists. Slim and Jim gave advice to the two younger musicians and joked around about being older. Their chemistry on stage added an extra layer of entertainment and made the audience feel like they were part of something special—almost like sitting in on a group of friends making music together rather than watching a formal concert.

The Nashville artists brought an entirely different but equally impressive energy to the stage. The lineup included Preston Cooper, Meghan Patrick, and Shane Profitt, and each one connected with the audience in a unique way.

What the crowd loved most was hearing the stories behind the songs—why they were written, what inspired them, and the personal connections the artists had to the lyrics. That storytelling element made every performance hit a little deeper. Preston Cooper brought undeniable soul to the stage, delivering music that you didn’t just hear—you felt it. Meghan Patrick showcased her incredible talent and personality, even surprising the crowd by pulling out a kazoo, which added a fun and memorable moment to the night. Shane Profitt poured pure emotion into his performance, putting his heart on the stage and pairing it with an amazing voice that left a lasting impression.

The Holiday Hangover Show 2026 was more than just a concert—it was a night of shared stories, laughter, emotion, and incredible songwriting. Between the classic country tributes, the debut of new local music, the camaraderie among the artists, and the raw honesty from the Nashville songwriters, it was a reminder of why live music—especially in a small, intimate setting—will always be something truly special in Acadiana.
