Southwest Louisiana’s own Dustin Dale Gaspard of Cow Island made a lasting impression on NBC’s The Voice with his soulful and unmistakably Louisiana-flavored audition resulting in a four-chair turn. Performing the Sam Cooke classic “Bring It On Home to Me,” Gaspard added a unique twist—singing part of the song in French, a nod to his Cajun roots and cultural heritage.
After taking the stage, Gaspard shared his small-town upbringing with the coaches. “I grew up hunting, fishing, and messing with alligators and snakes,” he said with a grin, instantly charming the panel.
His powerful, heartfelt performance captivated the coaches. Neil Horan said, “That was absolutely beautiful.” Reba McEntire praised Gaspard’s originality, saying, “You’re unusual, refreshing, and different—and my gosh, I’d love to have you on my team!”
Canadian singer Michael Bublé joined in the fun, greeting Gaspard in French with, “Bonjour, comment allez-vous?” Gaspard quickly replied, “Très bien, merci,” earning cheers from the crowd.
Snoop Dogg connected with Gaspard’s Southern authenticity, saying, “You know I got family in Mississippi and Louisiana. The music that you’re making touches my heart, because I got uncles that chase alligators, wrestle with snakes, and do all the things that you do.”
In the end, Gaspard chose Neil Horan as his coach, setting the stage for an exciting journey ahead. Horan added, “Dustin, remember the name. That is one of the best auditions I’ve seen and heard on this show in three seasons.”
Gaspard now advances to The Battles round, where artists on the same team perform duets head-to-head, and their coach decides who moves forward in the competition.
Dustin Dale Gaspard’s mix of soul, Cajun flair, and heartfelt storytelling has already made Louisiana proud—and the rest of America is taking notice.
