January in Acadiana is filled with activities for every interest, from cultural celebrations and community markets to live music and rodeo thrills!


Mid-Winter Fair & Pro Rodeo — Jan. 8–11. Kick off the new year with the 73rd Mid-Winter Fair & Pro Rodeo at Blackham Coliseum in Lafayette. This classic Louisiana event brings action-packed rodeo competitions like bull riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling, and more — plus family-friendly entertainment over four days of fun.

Acadiana Center for the Arts EventsThe Acadiana Center for the Arts has a variety of happenings throughout the month:

  • Music by Black Composers recital on January 10

  • The 97.3 The Dawg 2026 Holiday Hangover concert on January 13

  • An ArtSpark information session on January 20

  • John Boutté live performance on January 29and ongoing art exhibitions at the ArtHouse & galleries.

Lafayette Farmers & Artisans Market — Jan. 17. Support local growers and makers at the Lafayette Farmers & Artisans Market held at Moncus Park. This Saturday market features fresh seasonal produce, handmade goods, and unique crafts — a perfect mid-month outing for families and food lovers.


Festival de la Vie — Jan. 17. Also on January 17, downtown Lafayette’s Festival de la Vie brings community together for a prayer walk, live music, speakers, food, and activities celebrating life and family.

Mardi Gras Luncheon — Jan. 30. Get an early taste of Mardi Gras with the Episcopal School of Acadiana’s Mardi Gras Luncheon at Charley G’s. Expect great food, festive vibes, and carnival cheer to close out the month.


Community & Networking Gatherings. For those interested in professional networking, the LRA Acadiana Member Dinner & Installation on January 21 at The Linden brings together the hospitality community for dinner, awards, and updates for the year ahead.


Other Local Happenings Throughout the Month. January also features lots of recurring social and cultural activities — from ArtWalk in downtown Lafayette showcasing local galleries and artists, to community workshops and youth vision-board sessions. There are also live music nights, open mic events, and social gatherings at local venues that keep the calendar lively all month long.
