Acadiana’s love for food, music, and community comes together at the Anything Over Rice Cook-Off, happening Saturday, September 27, from 9 AM to 2 PM at LARC’s Acadian Village in Lafayette.
Teams will serve up their best dishes “over rice,” competing for titles like Judge’s Choice and People’s Choice. Guests can also enjoy kids’ activities, vendors, a silent auction, and live music from Jamie Bergeron & the Kickin’ Cajuns.
“This event is such a reflection of who we are in Acadiana,” says Kim Royer, event coordinator for LARC. “It’s about good food, good people, and supporting a cause that impacts lives right here at home.”
That cause is LARC, a Lafayette nonprofit serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1965. Through job training, residential support, and other services, LARC empowers people to live with dignity and independence. 100% of proceeds from the cook-off go directly to LARC’s mission.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids, with team entry at $75 and vendor entry at $50. For details or to register, contact Kim Royer at 337-981-2364 or visit www.acadianvillage.org.
“Every plate served helps us continue our mission,” Royer adds. “It’s a day of fun that truly makes a difference.”
