On December 6th and 7th, Cajun Con took over the Lamar Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales, Louisiana, bringing together pop culture, celebrity guests, and a strong dose of Louisiana hospitality. Created and hosted by voice actor and entertainer Scott Innes, Cajun Con proved to be a major success with a fantastic turnout and an impressive guest lineup.

I was invited by Rusty Noel, owner of Rusty’s Seasoning for Every Stuff, to attend and cover the event for Leauxcal. Rusty was selected to cook for all of the celebrity guests attending Cajun Con — an honor that highlights just how far his brand and reputation have grown.

Alongside his team, Rusty prepared seafood pasta, grilled chicken, and salad, all seasoned with his signature blends. As expected, the food was outstanding and represented Louisiana cooking incredibly well. Throughout the weekend, I heard nothing but praise from celebrity guests who raved about the flavors and quality of the dishes.

There’s something especially meaningful about watching someone serve food to people they grew up admiring — and even more powerful when those childhood heroes truly enjoy it. Seeing Rusty’s seasonings and cooking celebrated at an event of this scale was a proud Louisiana moment.

Cajun Con also provided the opportunity to connect with an incredible group of actors, actresses, and entertainers. One memorable conversation was with RJ Mitte, best known for his role on the hit series Breaking Bad alongside Brian Cranston. RJ shared that he lived in Youngsville, Louisiana for a time as a child. He loved Rusty’s cooking and mentioned how much he enjoys introducing his fiancée, Kennedy Suarez, to Cajun cuisine.

I also had the pleasure of speaking with Bobbie Brown, Baton Rouge native and well-known model who starred in Warrant’s iconic “Cherry Pie” music video. Bobbie has written a book about her life with rock stars, and I’m excited to say she will be joining me for an upcoming interview on my Louisiana Back Porch Talk series.

Additional highlights included meeting and speaking with actors Billy Slaughter, Creek Wilson, Jim Gleason, Brian Plaideau, and TJ Sebastian. Each was welcoming, generous with their time, and shared acting advice after I told them about my growing interest in the acting world. After recently playing the swamp witch Inez in David Rabalais’s film The Fois, the encouragement and insight from these seasoned professionals meant a great deal. I also need to thank Hick Cheramie for all of his help and welcoming me into this acting community. If you haven't watched my interview with Hick you need to check it out. He is an amazing person with a very inspiring story.

Cajun Con was an unforgettable weekend filled with meaningful connections, inspiring conversations, and a strong spotlight on Louisiana talent — both in the kitchen and on screen. Scott Innes did an amazing job bringing this event together, and it’s clear Cajun Con has the potential to become a staple on Louisiana’s convention calendar.

I look forward to future interviews, collaborations, and creative projects with the many talented people I met — and to continuing to share these stories through Leauxcal and Louisiana Back Porch Talk. Also big thanks to Brian Plaideau with the Nola Film Scene Podcast for letting me include some of his pictures in this article.
